Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible, hence known as the Word of God and the Scriptures, is the only infallible truth, and is given to us, according to II Timothy 3:16, by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

Trinity Belief Statement

We believe in God the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Ghost. And that each is inseparable of the other. We further believe that God is a spirit and that through faith and repentance of sins God indwells and one becomes a new creature in Christ Jesus.

Garden of Prayer #7 Vision of Faith Ministries was founded on January 25, 1970, by Bishop Shadrack Brown Jr., his wife the late Reverend Shirley G. Brown, and their three children, Keith, Gail, and Marcus. The first church resides at 804 Madison Avenue in Roanoke, VA.

The church experienced tremendous growth, and by 1983 the membership far exceeded the seating capacity of 125, and the Lord instructed and directed Pastor Brown to build a new church.

The new church opened in early 1986.  The grand opening was November 2, 1986, as members and friends marched from 804 Madison Avenue NW to the new Edifice at 3101 Cove Road NW Building 1, singing and rejoicing in the Lord.

The adjacent property at 3037 Cove Road was purchased to host ministry projects. The prophetic name for the property, Providence House, was given by God to our first lady, the late Rev. Dr. Shirley G. Brown. Over the years, the Providence House hosted a clothes closet, daycare center, thrift store, substance abuse center, tutoring classes, and youth center.

In early 2000, God gave Bishop Brown another vision to design a new sanctuary adjacent to 3101 Cove Road Build 1. On May 1, 2008, a very grateful and awed membership praised God in the new Sanctuary for His wondrous works.  The ribbon-cutting ceremony followed on May 3, 2008, with the members, guests, friends, and community marching from the old Sanctuary to the new Edifice at 3101 Cove Road Building 2.

GOD’S WORK IS FAR-REACHING

As an anointed man of God, Bishop Brown was consecrated to the Bishopric in 2006.  In 1973 he founded CLIP (Children Learning Program in the Prevention of Crime) and Save the Generations, a Statewide incorporated fully functional youth outreach campaign.

Bishop Brown is the founder and presiding prelate of the United Faith with Works Ministries (UFWW), founded in 2007. In 2019, he became the emeritus prelate of UFWW.

Vision of Faith Bible College (VFBC) opened in 2009.  In 2015, Great Beginnings Academy, an early childhood development center, opened at the Providence House. In May 2015, the center moved to occupy the old Sanctuary at 3101 Cove Road Build 1, with a capacity to serve 180 children. In 2016, God led Bishop Brown to install an Executive Administrative Board of Directors to oversee the administration of the church and facilities.

OUR WORK IS NOT FINISHED

“The Garden,” as we affectionately call ourselves, is still on the move for the Lord.

In late 2016, Bishop Brown shared a new vision to erect a Youth Recreation Center and Gymnasium. The land was purchased in 2017, and the build-a-thon has begun

While we are proud of our history, our most significant accomplishments come from doing God’s work.  And so, God’s work continues. To God, be the Glory!
